Tsunami Sushi Buffet Pattaya (Chaiyapruek) is a cozy little spot serving a very good Japanese buffet.
It had been a while since my wife and I had some rare time alone together, so we chose this Japanese buffet for its good food. The place was reasonably clean, sashimi was of course on offer, and the scallops were particularly delicious. There was a wide variety of dishes.
The last time we were here, we brought our kids along, and the meal was punctuated by reminders: sit properly, eat your food, stop playing, and so on. Having a peaceful meal with your partner, quietly looking at each other’s faces, becomes less straightforward once you have children. They’re still young, and between their squabbles and adorable questions, someone always needs to be there to help, coordinate, mediate, and discuss.
After our previous experience of being fined at Tsunami, we were extra careful this time, reviewing the menu to avoid any surprises. Here’s what we ordered:
We started with some appetizers (cold dishes).
Followed by sashimi, scallops, and sashimi rice bowls.
Then there were some grilled and fried items. The quality of the ingredients at Tsunami Sushi Buffet was good, and the cooking was fairly conventional. It was not the kind of meal that leaves you amazed at the first bite: it comes down to the ingredients and simple cooking methods. The overall service and cleanliness were up to a satisfactory standard.
There were also fried fish skin, deep-fried silverfish, fried burdock strips, squid rings, longzhu, grilled eel, and more.
There was also a generous selection of nigiri sushi and side dishes.
As I looked at my partner, noticing a few strands of gray hair while her face was still just as lovely, my heart couldn’t help but ache a little. I hope we can peacefully walk through the next decade together.
