Customer C took me in their company car to a very famous Vietnamese pho restaurant.
C is a second-generation, but he’s not the least bit delicate. He has a kind of stubbornness, determination, and a strong desire to get things done. At the same time, he kept telling me how amazing his dad is. After talking to his dad for a while, I also felt that his dad was impressive. In an era when few Taiwanese businessmen ventured into Vietnam, he was already running his business there.
During the meal, there was an old lady constantly speaking in incomprehensible Vietnamese nearby. C initially waved her off, but couldn’t stand her persistence in the end. He ended up buying a lottery ticket from her, which is quite different from how lottery tickets are sold in Thailand (laughs).
The vitality of Vietnamese cities is quite astonishing, and everyone seems to have an iPhone in hand. There are also quite a few foreigners on the streets. At the entrance of the restaurant, there were a few teenagers specifically helping with parking. I smiled because it’s not exactly a necessary job, but everyone just understands why they pay for it.
A bowl of pho costs 800,000 Vietnamese dong. Grateful for the hospitality.
