The Bamboo Bar sits beside Bangkok’s Chao Phraya River and is a bar rich in history and character. Located within the Mandarin Oriental Bangkok, it is renowned for its graceful atmosphere and beautifully crafted cocktails. Since opening its doors, The Bamboo Bar has become a beloved gathering place for international visitors, Thai travellers, and Bangkok locals alike.
The Vibe of The Bamboo Bar
The design of The Bamboo Bar is filled with vintage romance. Dark wooden furniture blends beautifully with bamboo details, creating a timeless Southeast Asian character. Live jazz adds another layer of enchantment, drawing guests gently into the music and the glow of Bangkok after dark. Of course, no visit would be complete without enjoying one of The Bamboo Bar’s creative cocktails.
The bar was quite busy, but even while listening from outside, the live band was completely captivating. A small jazz ensemble feels especially at home in a warm and intimate bar like this. After waiting for nearly an hour, we finally made our way inside.
If you sit on the terrace of The Bamboo Bar, a soft breeze brushes past while the Chao Phraya River flows quietly before you. In such a setting, it becomes easy to relax completely and forget the rush of the city. Inside, a Black female vocalist fills the room with her rich, soulful voice, performing one timeless classic after another.
Near the end of the evening, an elderly couple requested Dusty’s 1967 song, The Look of Love… Somehow, I happened to know it too. Yet in the atmosphere of The Bamboo Bar, the song seemed to carry an even deeper shade of romance.
In Summary: An elegant bar filled with history—and remember, shorts are not permitted under the dress code.
To me, The Bamboo Bar is more than simply a place to drink. It is a space where history, music, and Bangkok’s distinctive culture come together. Whether you order a classic martini or try one of the bar’s signature creations, the experience is likely to remain with you for a long time. From time to time, business guests and their clients pass through dressed in tailcoats or formal suits with bow ties, making the whole scene feel as though it belongs in a film.
I was not drunk from the drinks, but I was completely intoxicated by the music and the atmosphere. Google Map attached—this truly is a perfect place to listen to and admire the beauty of a Bangkok night.
