Mensho Tokyo is a well-known ramen shop founded in Tokyo by ramen master Tomaharu Shono. It aims to take ramen to the next level with distinctive flavors and generous ingredients, creating a deeply satisfying dining experience.

Today, I visited Mensho Tokyo Bangkok, and of course, I had to try their signature ramen! Located at RSU Tower on Sukhumvit Soi 31, it’s about a 6-minute walk from BTS Phrom Phong. The interior has a distinctive look: red walls and seating create a lively, stylish atmosphere. Rather than the usual wooden aesthetic of Japanese ramen shops, it feels modern and gets you looking forward to the meal as soon as you walk in.

Sat at the counter today, with a nice, minimal setup.

Even David Beckham made a point of stopping by when he was in Bangkok, so this clearly isn’t an ordinary ramen shop! The signature ramen I ordered smelled wonderful as soon as it arrived. Its extra-rich chicken paitan broth has a milky-white color and a silky, gelatinous mouthfeel. It’s full-flavored but not greasy, with the natural sweetness of the chicken coming through beautifully. Every sip was a pleasure.

It’s not just the broth that stands out: this bowl comes with a very generous helping of meat! There’s flame-seared chashu, tender chicken, and even Wagyu beef. Each has its own texture and flavor, but they’re all tender and juicy, keeping every bite interesting. The handmade noodles are springy and chewy, soaking up the broth beautifully. Add a soft-boiled egg with a runny yolk, bamboo shoots, scallions, and nori, and the bowl has plenty of layers of flavor and texture that work wonderfully together.

The portion is generous, enough for a man to feel thoroughly satisfied with one bowl. No wonder Beckham loves it! If you enjoy rich, full-bodied ramen and want to try several luxurious meats in one bowl, Mensho Tokyo is definitely one of the ramen shops to visit in Bangkok.

Wash it all down with an ice-cold drink. So good!
