Work had been so busy that I could barely catch my breath, and my mind felt completely tangled. So I gave myself a little break in Bangkok. I wanted somewhere that wasn’t too far away, with everyday conveniences nearby and enough quiet to switch off. This time, I chose Oakwood Residence Sukhumvit 24 Bangkok in the Phrom Phong area.
About Oakwood Residence Sukhumvit 24 Bangkok

It doesn’t feel as commercial as a large chain hotel, nor as lively and noisy as a backpacker hostel. It’s a warm, practical serviced apartment that strikes a nice balance: quiet, clean, and easygoing, with the feeling that you’re living here rather than just visiting.
The downside is that it’s a relatively old property. During my stay, the restaurant was being renovated, so breakfast meant walking around to the back and sharing a dining room with another hotel.

A Great Location: Two Minutes on Foot from BTS Phrom Phong
The address is on Sukhumvit Soi 24, just a two-minute walk from BTS Phrom Phong, which makes getting around easy. You don’t have to worry about transport, and you’re not staying right beside a noisy main road. Emporium and EmQuartier are nearby for meals, shopping, and souvenirs. There’s also Benjasiri Park, which I love, for a morning stroll.
The Room: A Kitchen and a Little Home in Bangkok
I stayed in a One-Bedroom Deluxe this time. It was very spacious, with a separate living room and bedroom. Best of all, the kitchen was well equipped, with an induction hob, microwave, refrigerator, and tableware. That makes such a difference for a longer stay. It felt less like traveling and more like settling into everyday life.

This was a quick visit, so I didn’t have time to explore the whole building, but finding a shared lounge beside my room was an interesting surprise. When I was leaving the hotel, a couple were inside eating instant noodles. Earlier that morning, another guest had been chatting away while dealing with work. It was quite a lively little space.

The Drawbacks: An Older Property and a Restaurant Under Renovation
In the morning, a staff member had to lead me around to the restaurant in another hotel at the back for breakfast. The selection was fairly limited, though there was enough to fill up on. Still, the arrangement felt a little less polished than you might expect.

Final Thoughts: An Older Property Lifted by Warm Service
The facilities really do show their age, but the staff were always smiling and patient, and my stay went fairly smoothly. If newer facilities aren’t your top priority, this is still a workable place to stay.
