I Didn’t actually expect that Izakaya Hotei in Bangkok surprisingly close to the client’s office, just a 10-minute walk away, and its facade screams authentic Japanese vibes.
Stepping into Izakaya Hotei, you’re immediately enveloped in the quintessential atmosphere of a Japanese izakaya. The décor is simple, cozy, evoking the ambiance of a quaint street-side shop in Japan. The name “Hotei” likely pays homage to one of the Seven Lucky Gods in Japanese mythology, symbolizing the happiness and joy the restaurant aims to bring to its customers.
The menu offers a variety of traditional Japanese dishes, including sushi, sashimi, grilled items, simmered dishes, and various appetizers. Whether you’re a seafood lover, a meat enthusiast, or a vegetarian, there’s something here for everyone. With three of us dining, we ordered a modest selection of dishes. The seafood, freshly grilled, was just right—never overcooked, with just the right amount of seasoning to enhance the flavor.
Apart from the delicious food, Izakaya Hotei also boasts an extensive selection of Japanese sake and other beverages, allowing you to savor the authentic flavors of Japan during your meal.
As always, the unsweetened green tea refill remains a perennial favorite.
Overall, it was a satisfying meal, and we appreciate the hospitality. Google Map link attached.
