WOO GOGI is a Korean restaurant designed around individual barbecue, so you don’t need a group to enjoy charcoal-grilled meat. Its modern orange-and-black decor feels stylish, with a little privacy that makes it especially welcoming for solo diners.

Step inside WOO GOGI and the bright orange decor immediately greets you, giving the place an atmosphere that feels lively yet warm. Unlike a typical Korean barbecue restaurant, every seat has its own smokeless grill, so you can comfortably enjoy cooking your meal even when you’re dining alone. As with the usual Korean barbecue setup, the side dishes come with unlimited refills.

One of the highlights here is the rice cooked in a heat-retaining pot. Each bite has a faint aroma of toasted rice crust. Pair it with freshly grilled pork belly and the special Korean dipping sauce, and the savory-sweet combination keeps you coming back for another bite.

I ordered a set meal. The meat arrived neatly trimmed and cut, so there wasn’t much left to do. I gently placed it on the grill, and as it began to sizzle, the aroma of grilled meat slowly drifted up.

Beyond barbecue, there are traditional Korean stone-pot bibimbap, side dishes and soups to choose from. The ingredients are fresh and the seasoning tastes authentic. For a lighter combination, wrap the meat in lettuce and add some kimchi to bring another layer of flavor to each bite.

Wrapping the meat in a lettuce leaf with a little kimchi really was a good combination.

And then, some crispy rice from the bottom of the pot…

Many people think of barbecue as a lively group meal. But at WOO GOGI, quietly turning the meat on your own grill, eating slowly and savoring each bite becomes a soothing experience in its own right. If you’d like a little time to yourself amid the noise of the city, come and sit for a while, and enjoy a Korean barbecue meal at your own pace.
WOO GOGI has several branches in Thailand, including The Mall Bangkapi in Bangkok and Central Festival Pattaya in Pattaya.

And that was today’s solo barbecue meal.
