A Night by the River Deep in the Mountains
After the car left the main road, the mountain road gradually became narrower. The phone signal slowly weakened, but the view became clearer and less cluttered. The moment we arrived at The Hub Erawan, my most immediate reaction was—this place is really remote. Apart from two gas stations nearby, there was absolutely nothing else.

This place is located in the mountainous area near Erawan and is built directly alongside a tributary of the River Kwai. The air is humid, and the breeze carries the scent of grass and trees. There is none of the background noise of the city—only flowing water and the sounds of insects. My body reacted before my mind did, and I naturally became completely calm.
First Impressions upon Arriving at The Hub Erawan
When I walked into the room, I paused for a moment. It was not because I was pleasantly surprised, but because I wanted to confirm… yes, this really was the same room shown online. The space was very simple, perhaps even basic to the point of being crude. The walls, furniture, and bathroom were all maintained at the minimum level required for practical use. There was not much decoration, nor were there any angles that made me want to pick up my camera.

Honestly, this is not the kind of accommodation that would receive a lot of attention on social media. Neither the room nor the breakfast could be described as refined. At more than two thousand baht per night, especially in such a remote mountain location, it was difficult not to have some doubts—but outside the window, the river continued to flow.
The Value of the Location
The greatest advantage of The Hub Erawan is its location. It sits beside the River Kwai, and it is genuinely close to nature. It is not separated from the river by a road or a large lawn. The moment you open the door, you can hear the sound of the water.

When I woke up in the morning, the sounds of insects and birds had almost replaced the alarm clock. They were not harsh or irritating, but formed layers of natural background sound. While sitting beside the river and eating breakfast, sunlight fell through the gaps between the leaves, creating countless tiny reflections on the surface of the water.

The breakfast itself was very simple. There was no elaborate presentation and there were not many options. But when you are sitting in front of a river and mountain scenery, the food somehow becomes secondary.
The Quiet of the Night
After nightfall, there was almost no sound from the outside world. There was no traffic and no distant neon glow. There was only the sound of flowing water and the occasional fluttering of insect wings.

Standing by the river, I suddenly realized that it had been a long time since I had experienced such complete silence. It was not an empty kind of silence, but one filled entirely by nature. For someone who has lived in the city for a long time, a night like this has a healing effect.
The Conflict over the Room Rate
For more than two thousand baht, you could stay in a more thoughtfully designed room in Bangkok. In some resort areas, you could also find accommodation with more complete facilities. In such a remote mountain location, the price of The Hub Erawan inevitably makes you stop and think
In terms of facilities, there were genuinely no highlights. Both the bathroom and the room were very basic, without any details that could be considered impressive. If the property were judged purely on its physical facilities, it would be difficult to give a definite answer.

But once the location and natural surroundings are included in the evaluation, the overall experience becomes more complicated. Mornings by a river and nights in the mountains like these are simply not available everywhere.
What Kind of Traveler Is It Suitable For?
If you are looking for stylish design, comfort, and a wide range of facilities, The Hub Erawan may not meet your expectations. But if your trip to Kanchanaburi includes a desire to spend some time genuinely away from the city, this place does provide the space to do so.
It feels more like a mountain stopover than a resort hotel.
A Stay That Is Difficult to Evaluate Simply
Before leaving, I stood beside the river and watched the water flow. In my mind, I was still thinking: this room really is… something else. I could even hear the wooden floor creaking whenever someone walked in the room next door, but since it was my younger brother staying there, I let it go. Still, my body was honest. I slept deeply that night, and when I woke up in the morning, I did not feel the pressure of the city.

The impression left by The Hub Erawan does not come from photographs of the room, but from the time spent beside the river. The location is exceptional, while the facilities are… difficult to put into words. Perhaps it is precisely because of this contradiction that the stay became so memorable.
During this night deep in the mountains of Kanchanaburi, there was no perfection—only reality.
