Off work! When you’re at an exhibition somewhere like this, the fun begins once the day’s work is done.
It was my first time in Korea, so of course I had to go to Dongdaemun. After getting back to the hotel and changing clothes, I rushed straight out, hailed a taxi on the street, and started saying “DONDAIMON” as soon as I got in. The driver understood!!!!

We arrived in Dongdaemun. This was just… wonderful, wonderful, wonderful—the whole world was bouncing along with my heart. (Shrug.) And next, of course!! Time to fill our stomachs. It was my first taste of the wonders of Korean barbecue, and I was so caught up in it that I didn’t even take any photos of the meat.
H said, “Look, at the next table, the guys are all grilling for the girls.”
Me: “I was already cooking for my grandma when I was 13.” (Shrug.)
I really don’t see anything amazing about a guy being able to cook. (Shrug.) If you can’t cook, you don’t get to eat, right? The woman working at the restaurant was Chinese. She said she was from Beijing? (Doubtful.) I would have thought Shandong was more likely, since there are ethnic Koreans there.
Everything was so new and interesting. (Smile.)
