If you are looking for a restaurant that offers both Northern Thai—or “Pai”—flavours and a refined dining experience, Baan Benjarong Pai(บ้านเบญจรงค์ปาย)**is definitely worth adding to your itinerary. The restaurant serves family recipes from Pai, Chiang Mai, combining a foundation of traditional cooking with contemporary creativity. It has also received the Michelin Bib Gourmand distinction for five consecutive years—a sign of “reasonable prices and reliably delicious food.” This recognition makes Baan Benjarong Pai even more appealing.
Architecture and Atmosphere|Baan Benjarong Pai Blends Northern Thai Simplicity with the Warmth of Home
The Pattaya branch of Baan Benjarong Pai that we visited today is located on the basement floor of Central Pattaya, near the food court. The location is convenient, and the bright dining space carries a gentle touch of Northern Thai character. Its simple, comfortable décor combines wooden elements with warm tones, creating the feeling of sitting around a dining table at home and making the meal especially relaxing.

The restaurant is centred around recipes passed down through the family, thoughtfully combined with modern flavours to create dishes that feel a little different from typical Thai cuisine. During this visit, we ordered the following dishes:
Pandan-Wrapped Grilled Chicken(ไก่อบใบเตย)
The chicken is wrapped in fragrant pandan leaves before being grilled. The meat remains tender and juicy, with a gentle herbal aroma. Paired with the restaurant’s special sweet chilli sauce, it is especially enjoyable with rice.

Red Curry with Crab Meat(แกงเผ็ดปูเนื้อ)
Baan Benjarong Pai’s Thai red curry is served with sweet, flavourful crab meat. The smooth richness of coconut milk gently balances the heat, creating a full-bodied taste that never feels too heavy. It pairs wonderfully with steamed rice.

Northern Thai Sausage(ไส้อั่ว)
This classic Northern Thai snack is made from pork mixed with aromatic spices. The casing is grilled until lightly charred and fragrant, while the filling carries the distinctive flavours of lemongrass, makrut lime leaves, and chilli.

Steamed Rice(ข้าวสวย)
Soft, fragrant Thai jasmine rice with a pleasantly springy texture—the perfect supporting dish for all the bold and flavourful mains.
Baked Pork Ribs with Salted Fish(ซี่โครงหมูอบปลาเค็ม )
This is one of the restaurant’s signature dishes. The savoury aroma of salted fish infuses the pork ribs, creating layers of flavour. The pork is cooked until tender and deeply seasoned, with salty and gently sweet notes coming together beautifully. It is the kind of dish that makes you want another bowl of rice.

Price and Accessibility|Shopping-Mall Pricing, but Flavours Worth Trying
Although Baan Benjarong Pai has received a Michelin Bib Gourmand recommendation, it is worth mentioning that the prices are noticeably higher than those at a typical roadside restaurant. For the dishes we ordered, the total came to around THB 1,600. With the same budget at a traditional restaurant outside the shopping centre, a family could usually enjoy a very generous meal. Since the restaurant is located inside a department store, the rental costs and dining environment are naturally different, and this should be taken into consideration.
For anyone planning to dine at Baan Benjarong Pai, it is a good idea to check the menu prices before ordering and adjust the number of dishes according to your group size and budget. This will help everyone enjoy the meal more comfortably. That said, the flavour and quality of the food are certainly dependable. The ingredients are fresh, and the seasoning is well judged, making it easy to understand why the restaurant has continued to receive Michelin recognition. If you would like to enjoy Northern Thai flavours in a comfortable setting, this remains a very worthwhile place to try.
