I didn’t originally plan on eating here — I was just casually strolling through EMSphere when a giant mascot near the food floor caught my eye. Turns out it was promoting a tonkatsu (Japanese fried pork cutlet) shop. I figured, why not give it a try? To my surprise, it turned out to be way better than expected — and that simple act of mixing your rice at the table added a nice little ritual to the experience.

What truly sets Kogoro Katsu apart is their signature Kin-Nashi sauce — a refreshing sweet-sour blend inspired by Japanese Niigata pears. It’s light, fruity, and unexpectedly perfect with crispy, golden katsu. A small detail, but one that leaves a big impression.
That said, this time pork wasn’t even my main focus. I’ve already had my fill of tonkatsu from places like Saboten and Maisen. So instead, I went with something different: the Mixed Seafood Set A, Beef Katsu, and a side of fried vegetable rolls.

The EMSphere branch of Kogoro has a really polished vibe — bright, clean, a bit retro. It’s open seating, but still fairly quiet. The kind of place where you can sit and zone out while enjoying your meal. The place wasn’t too crowded, and the staff were friendly and patient, which made the whole experience really pleasant.

🍱 Mixed Seafood Set A
The Mixed Seafood Set A is a luxurious new option at Kogoro Katsu — basically a dream combo for seafood fans. It usually includes salmon, fried shrimp, and oysters — so you get a variety of textures and flavors in one set. Very satisfying.

Then I ordered the Beef Katsu.
Think of this as the beef version of a tonkatsu — using tender cuts like chuck or sirloin with good marbling. It’s coated in golden panko and fried until medium rare, keeping the inside juicy and slightly pink. They even give you a mini grill so you can finish cooking it to your liking at the table. Fun and interactive.

The fried vegetable roll is made from fresh veggies — usually things like carrot, spinach, cabbage, and bell pepper — wrapped in tofu skin or a thin crepe, rolled tight, then lightly battered and fried. When you slice it open, you get a colorful cross-section of veggies that’s both beautiful and tasty.

During the meal, a staff member came by to stir the rice in my set — helping it heat evenly and adding a touch of ritual to the experience. A small detail, but a memorable one.

Here’s everything that came with the set.

All in all, the dining experience was excellent — great flavors, a peaceful vibe, and thoughtful service. I wasn’t expecting much going in, but I left super satisfied.
